Providence House Domestic Violence and Safe House Program

Imagine living in fear and no place to go

Imagine ... living in fear
and having no place to go.

KNOW THE FACTS

•  One in every four women will experience domestic violence in her lifetime.

•  Boys who witness domestic violence are twice as likely to abuse their own partners or children when they become adults.

•  Louisiana is ranked 3rd in nation in murders of female victims by male perpetrators (reporting category where domestic violence-related murders typically appear).

 •  84% of the female victims who were murdered know their offender.

 •  Domestic violence affects all demographic groups, and domestic violence is the #1 reason women end up in emergency rooms.

 •  An estimated 1.3 million women are victims of physical assault by an intimate partner each year.

Imagine... a community where no one lives in fear.
