Family Homelessness
Most often when families walk into the Providence House, they have nothing - no home, no car, very little belongings, and no hope for a future. We help these families overcome their crises. We offer not only basic services, such as shelter, food, and childcare, but also specialized guidance:
- emotional and educational assessment and support
- job skills training
- life skills classes
- budgeting, training, and behavior-modification classes
Our "Break the Cycle of Homelessness Program" is structured and demanding, but families who commit to it succeed and continue to live successfully into the future.
Each year, Providence House serves approximately 200 families, which include some 400 children.
Children Programs
Homelessness places profound stress on a child's life. Before entering a shelter, a family usually lives doubled-up with friends or relatives. These families move at least twice, and up to four times a year, during this period of transition.
Adult Programs
The Providence House Adult Program is dedicated to meeting the needs of homeless families and their children. Positive life-changes are encouraged through structured programs, which focus on spiritual growth, education, employment, life-management and recovery from substance abuse.
