Providence House Fast Facts
- A non-profit established in 1989.
- Serve primarily homeless families with children, some single women.
- We serve 85 families with children daily, up to 260 people , which includes 94 adults and 166 children.
- 27 families with children live at the Providence House main building on Cotton Street, each family lives in one room and shares a bath with another family.
- 10 single women in another location.
- 40 families with children live in apartments maintained by Providence House in the Shreveport and Bossier area that become theirs when they graduate.
- 20 families with children and 15 single women live in the Domestic Violence Safe House in a confidential location.
- We provide literally everything a family needs at no cost to the family but the family must be willing to work the program in order to stay.

- Not every family graduates.
- The program was developed to insure a high degree of success for our families and ensure our supporters that their gifts of money, in-kind items and services are making a significant difference.
- Families can be in the program for up to 2 years in order reach their highest level of self-sufficiency.
- Children make up 64% of the people we serve, up to 166 daily.
- We have the only child development center for homeless children in the state.
- We use our proven successful accountability/responsibility based program.
- Our success rate for families graduating is 85% since we began operating our program.
- Part of our philosophy is to be good stewards of our funds not providing services or goods that are already available in the community at no cost to us or our clients.
- We receive in-kind services valued at approximately $2,000,000 to support our families.
- We serve 55,000 meals annually at the Providence House facility.
- 2010 annual budget of $3,500,000; employ 60 people, that includes the child development center, Education Center, SAFE House and Domestic Violence Program and the Sexual Assault Advocacy program.
- The MAJORITY of our funds comes from private donors and foundations
- 85 cents of every dollar goes directly to the program.
